Cykelantikva typeface

Type design — 2020 — School project

Handdrawn type design. The characters were drawn with ink by the tip of a piece of rubber tubing from a bike. 

The tube was cut to a point, which meant it formed a shape that could both make very fine lines as well as broad strokes, and I used the characteristics of the marks to shape the letters. 

The typeface is named “Cykelantikva” from the danish “cykel”, meaning “bike”.
